My grandmother started me collecting flower seeds on the farm when I was 5. It "stuck". The love of beauty and art and the feeling you get viewing flowers in the garden on a sunny day are about as good as life gets (in my humble opinion).
What grandmother cox called "old maids" we now know as "zinnias". We collected the seeds in cloth pouches in the fall to plant the following spring. Even though nursery plants are readily available everywhere now, I still sew flowers from seeds.
